The Conservative administration at Woking has delivered improvements to the Borough while maintaining value for money, Council Leader John Kingsbury has said.
In his budget speech (full version attached below), Cllr Kingsbury said the Council had experienced a good year and that even better was still to come.
Under the headings of Sound Finances, Economic Viltality, Natural Woking, Affordable Housing and Rail Services, the Leader of the Council set out how his administration would continue to seek improvements to infrastructure and the environment for the benefit of all taxpayers.
"Last year I restated my previous comments that we still had tough years ahead of us, probably as far as 2020 or beyond," he told the budget meeting of Woking Borough Council. "The outcome of the EU Referendum and the changes in leadership within Government have made it absolutely clear that these challenges will continue well into the next Parliament.
"I believe that the strong Conservative leadership we have shown at this Council, with our continued commitment to investment in economic growth, infrastructure, and community facilities, has enabled us to meet the needs of local residents despite the challenging times we have faced.
"The budget and investment proposals before us set out our intention to continue to do so and, under Conservative leadership, we will continue to maintain and improve services, improve cost effectiveness and take pro-active intervention to support our local communities."
