Woking Conservatives have given their backing to a campaign that seeks to stop dog fouling and make the streets and play areas of our borough more pleasant.
Residents of Knaphill presented a 279-signature petition to Woking’s Conservative-run executive committee earlier this month and the committee has agreed to support a pilot scheme in the village that will look at ways of tackling the problem.
Some of the worst affected areas are on routes to schools and nearby playing fields - in particular, Sussex and Chobham Roads and Cavell Way.
Portfolio holder for the environment Cllr Beryl Hunwicks summed up by thanking residents who had signed the petition. “This campaign will highlight the issues and encourage greater reporting of incidents. We will use available resource to the very best and greatest effect.
“We have listened to residents, we are very concerned and we do thank you for this tonight.”
