Heathlands Ward comprises Brookwood, Bridley, Hook Heath, Mayford, Sutton Green and Barnsbury and Wych Hill. It was formed from four old wards during the boundary changes of 2016.
After 19 years as a Councillor and nine of those as Leader of the Council, John Kingsbury has decided not to seek re-election in 2018. Heathlands Conservatives are delighted to announce that Simon Ashall will be our candidate for the Local Elections in 2018. Simon lives in Hook Heath with his wife Laura and their two daughters. He was a journalist with the Woking News and Mail and Surrey Advertiser before moving into Public Relations. He is now Conservative Party Agent for both Guildford and Woking.
Simon said: "There are so many issues currently facing our area. I'm campaigning to keep our Green Belt, to tackle traffic problems in Brookwood, for improved housing in Barnsbury and a balance between challenging inappropriate development while having the houses we need for our children to live in and for the key workers we rely upon.
"Support my campaign and I will work for you as your representative in the Council, not the Council's representative in Heathlands.
"I would like to pay tribute to the dedication and meticulous service of John Kingsbury for the past 20 years as ward Councillor. He has achieved a huge amount for our area and I know he will continue to take a great interest in making it even better after he stands down."
