Mount Hermon is the new ward combining the majority of the old Mount Hermon West and Mount Hermon East wards. It includes much of the area south of the railway line in Woking Town Centre, including Constitution Hill, the Centrium and New Central developments, York Road and the Ashwood Road and Hockering Conservation Areas. Maybury Hill and Hoebridge Golf Club are also in the new ward.
Cllr Mark Pengelly is standing again for re-election after a busy 18 months, where he has been contributing to community safety in the town centre and addressing parking concerns. Mark was first elected as a Councillor in 2016, and since then he has worked tirelessly to give a voice to Mount Hermon residents and improve the local area.
“I’ve been very active addressing problems such as untidy verges, flooding, anti-social parking and crime,” said Mark. “I have strongly supported the Council’s efforts to improve and invest in our town and achieve better services for local residents. Most importantly, I managed to gain the Council’s support for two key motions: one compelling the Council to review CCTV coverage in areas including Mount Hermon, and another extending free Wi-Fi to Woking Park.
“I want to thank all those who backed me at my selection, as this will allow me to go on representing the views of the community I care so deeply about,” he added.
