Conservatives retained control of Woking Borough Council following the local elections on May 5, winning 17 of the 30 seats on the council under new boundaries.
In Horsell, Knaphill, Heathlands and Pyrford, Conservative candidates won all three seats in the ward, with two of the three won in St John's and Mount Hermon. In Goldsworth Park, hardworking Councillor Chitra Rana retained his seat in an area that has traditionally voted for other parties.
Woking Conservative Group leader John Kingsbury thanked voters for their confidence and trust. "The Council has achieved a great deal in the last five years and I am very pleased that voters overall have recognised this," he said.
"Obviously we weren't successful at getting every sitting Councillor re-elected and Carl Thomson, Gary Elson, John Lawrence Richard Wilson, Paul Smith and Rizwan Shah will all be missed as they have done a great deal for residents and deserve our thanks. The changes in boundaries made it very difficult for some of them to win and I have every confidence that they will be back."
