Recent delays in Woking's postal service were at the top of Conservative councillor Carl Thomson's agenda when he visited Royal Mail staff recently at Woking sorting office.
Changes made to the way that the post is handled in the town have meant delays in letters reaching their destinations, as well as later and less convenient delivery times for mail that does arrive.
As vice-chairman of Woking's overview and scrutiny committee, Carl has a role in ensuring that the council's money is spent in the interest of taxpayers and he believes that the customer should also come first at Royal Mail.
"Woking sorting office is in my Mount Hermon East ward, so I have a particular interest in things being run well there," said Carl. "Like many residents in Woking, I have had concerns about the postal service here so I'm glad that management are taking action.
"I'll be keeping an eye on the situation to see that improvements do happen."
